Waterstof in 3D
Beetje moeilijk hoor. Maar er is veel tekst
onderaan.
This applet plots hydrogen atom states in nonrelativistic quantum
mechanics. Specifically, it plots the probability densities in the stationary states
ynlm(x,y,z).
Notes:
- Probability densities between 15% and 40% of maximum are plotted in blue, and those from
40% to 100% of maximum are plotted in red. Intensity is equal to the probability density
divided by the maximum in the particular state. Densities below 15% of maximum are not
plotted.
- To avoid a lattice-like appearance, the points are plotted at randomized locations
within each grid cell.
- In the demo version, n is restricted to n=1,2,3. In the full
version, n=4,5,6 are also available.
- Rendering progress is indicated by the clock. The finer the
grid, the slower the rendering.
Instructions for use
- Enter the desired quantum numbers using the popup menus
provided.
- The grid may be changed using the popup menu.
- The axes may be shown or hidden using the checkbox.
- To change the angle of view, drag the plot area using the mouse
(horizontally to vary
the azimuthal angle and vertically to vary the polar angle.) When the grid is set to its
coarsest value, changes in the view angle occur in real time.
- To restore the applet to its original condition, click "reset".
